A modest proposal

A modest proposal:

We should all really set our permissions to "public", then Google can find them. And/or use hashtags to they're findable within the Facebook "walled garden". Functionally, Facebook has no search capability.

So many great photos and articles are missed because of the dreaded "can only be seen by friends" setting which results in "attachment unavailable" to folks not on their friends list.

I see very little if anything that isn't fit for public consumption and in those rare case it's trivial to make second account for that stuff.

I just set mine to "public - anybody can see it" and strongly urge others to do the same.
