Ginger for colds

The Chinese pharmacopia maintains that if you boil ginger and green onions for 20 minutes then drink it when you first notice the signs of an impending cold that you won't actually get the cold. The catch is you have to catch it in the first few hours of the beginning of the cold, usually the "what's that odd tickle in the throat" stage. I"ve tried this and roughly 7 times out of 10 the cold does not progress.

If you do get the full blown cold then the ginger/lemon/honey tea recipe is better at relieving cold symptoms than anything else you can buy or try.
