I grew up here, living here from 1965 to 1976, elementary school to university. This area was all forest when we first saw it, and they cut trees down and built houses. They'd inadvertently changed the water table and half the remaining trees died. Then Dutch elm disease killed a few more. The silver maple in the front on the right was one of the original trees; I planted the magnolia (foreground) and flowering crab (right read) in the 1960s.
