It rains a lot in LA

THe LA Times reported LA got as much rain in the last fout months as it does in a year. Funny, when I lived there for 10 years it rained once, the other year it rained it rained twice. Or that's what it seemed like. In actual fact, rainfall is 4-30+ inches of rain annually. In 2016, 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2024 it rained a lot, nearly 3x as much as normal.

US annexes Palestine as a US protectorate, Israeli army leaves, Palestinians temporarily displaced during reconstruction of 80% 400 sq/mi of Gaza

Trump says Israel will hand over Gaza to US after fighting ends
US President Donald Trump has restated a vision in which the US would take over Gaza, after officials in his administration appeared to contradict his earlier comments.

"The Gaza Strip would be turned over to the United States by Israel at the conclusion of fighting," Trump said on Thursday. He reiterated that the idea would mean resettling Palestinians, and that no US soldiers would be needed.

White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said on Wednesday that any displacement would be temporary. In his own comments, made on the same day, Secretary of State Rubio said the idea was for Gazans to leave the territory for an "interim" period while debris was cleared and reconstruction took place.

"The US will take over the Gaza Strip and we will do a job with it too," he said on Tuesday during a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who called the idea "worth paying attention to".

DOD took 10% of the GDP in the Vietnam era, presently it's around 2%

"The potential for increased defense budgets isn’t limited to the U.S. NATO allies, under renewed pressure from an incoming Trump administration, are likely to ramp up their own spending.

Germany, for example, has already met NATO’s 2% GDP defense target for the first time in decades, and public opinion now supports raising it even further to between 3% and 3.5%. Poland currently leads the alliance by spending a whopping 4.12% of GDP on defense, and next year, that figure is expected to rise to 5%." - usfunds.com

Shocking as it may seem, the US government actually sends out blank checks to various persons and organizations with no reason given

The President and Elon Musk's performance yesterday on TV concerning the DOGE/Treasury scandal was nothing short of inspiring and inspiring in a way we have not seen in this country since JFK. Musk displayed far less of the overcaffeinated teenager and was bright and alert, while the President seemed half bored by the whole thing. Musk stole the show and if his detractors showed up you couldn't tell. He was asked a few questions by the press, always the same question but never mind, which he did not dodge and have an off the cuff, relaxed and thoughtful analysis and provided numbers. It was inarguable, yet the press did ask the same question 3 times and did not ask about what other rotten apples were in the pile or who was thi going to and what happened to our checks and balances. They seemed far more interested in whether MUsk would abuse this trust and use it to line his own pockets.

Have you tried turning the government off and on again?

Defense cuts of 50% announced by US, Russia, China. RFK jr, from thie White House, announced the dismantling of the Military Industrial Complex. I was impressed a Kennedy can say this in the white house and not be shot. Maybe it is a new America, a different one from the continent I moved to on that fatefulk day when two tings happened, first the Daleks were introduced into Doctor Who on Television and second, JFK was assasinated in what seemed like a militay takeover of the US government.
