Linseed oil, extracted from flax seeds is considered the most usefull. Raw unboiled oil is impossibly slow to dry. Double boiled linseed oil is usable as is. Other oils may be substituted such as poppy seed, safflower and tung oils.

Beeswax is the tradional wax used for wood surfaces.
