Egg white was traditionally used as a binder for the illustrations in illuminated manuscripts.

• 1 egg white
• 1/2 teaspoon natural pigment

Slake the pigment. Put the egg white in a small bowl and beath until slightly frothy. Let it sit until the clear liquir separates from the froth. Spoon off the froth with a spoon. Gradually mix in the pigment. This is a transparent glaze - do not use too much pigment. Useful for lampshades. Cleans up with warm soapy water.
