Tillandsia tonalaensis, native to southwest Mexico near Oaxaca
Originally collected in 1989 by Renate Ehlers, this species grows on rock walls around 1500 meters and produces a very complex and showy bloom which contrasts nicely with the bright green leaves. This plant is closely related to T. thyrsigera and T. parryi
Pam originally collected in 1991, this is the first time it has bloomed; a slow grower to say the least, but as you can see it was worth the wait!
