I planted this stuff on a lark more or less. We'd bought about a pound of fresh turmeric from the scratch and dent rack at a Chinese market and over the period of about a month used roughly half, then it sat there looking sad and dried out for a month or two then ut began sprouting around March or April so I stuck all of it in a pot and put it outside where it did really well.
My plan at the end of summer was to bring it indoors where I expected the leaves to die and I'd dig up all sorts of tumeric root. I dug up three shoots and found very little of a root, I guess it has to be older. I guess the leaves are not goig to die it's two months after it came indoors and makes a very attractive and suitable houseplant.
