70s steel Rado with a large sahhire crystal

I got this from a guy at work in 1982. He had this watch which I admired greatly, then one day he's at work with some new crappy Seiko and I asked what happened to the nice one.

He said he wore it in the shower and it stopped working so he got a new watch. I asked what he was going to do with it, and he told me he was going to throw it out. I asked if I could have it instead and he said sure, but you can never never sell it

At this writing I have had the watch for 41 years now and it still works perfectly. I've had it cleaned twice since then and has had two new crystals. Presently it needs another on, as it got chipped again in 2024.

One of my favorite watches and one of only two I wear where people would stop me in the street to say how much they admired it. It does have that appeal because of the blue sapphire crystal - it's actually clear but has some sort of metal deposition on the underside of the crystal that is sapphire blue, and has stupid diamonds on it which I'm not partial to really, but again is one of two (different this time) watches with diamonds that aren't garish enough me me to never wear them. Plus there's a certain amount of sentimental value in it for me.
