Canada's COVID-19 death toll remained unchanged in the past 24 hours for the first time since March 15, according to public health agency data released late on Friday.
The death toll from the pandemic stood at 9,163 on Friday, the same as Thursday, government data showed.
A CBC News tally of deaths based on provincial reports, regional health information and CBC's reporting stood at 9,205 at 9 p.m. ET Friday. The health agency data also showed that the number of positive cases rose by 702 to 135,626 on Friday from the previous day. Provinces and territories listed 119,674 of those as recovered or resolved.
Alberta had reported one new death on Friday, but also said a previous recorded death was determined to not have been related to COVID-19.
