Mannchen seiner besseren Halfte, macht sich
vor ihr schon, indem er die Flossen spreizt und
schlangelnde Bewegungen mit dem hinteren
Teile des Korpers und der Schwanzflosse ausfuhrt,
dabei erstrahlt das Tier in einer Farbenspracht, die sich weder mit dem Pinsel noch mit der
Feder wiedergeben lasst. Unsere Farbentafel (in Nr. 35)
zeigt Paar in vollig ausgewachsenem
Zustand, das Mannchen mit gespreizten Flossen
das Weibchen laichereif. Ende January 1908 beobachtete ich verschiedentlich, wie die Fische
laichten, die Laichaggabe findet in der beim
Fundulus arnold Blgr. naher beschriebenen weise
Statt, nur umfasst bei diesem blauen Fundulus das Mannchen mit der Rucken- and Afterflosse
den hinterkorper des Weibchens, wodurch ein
formliches Festhalten des Weibchens, seitens
des Mannchens beim Laichakt bewirkt wird.
Da der Boden mit einer Schlammschicht bedeckt
war, konnte ich von den Eiern nichts entdecken
ich wollte auch die Fische nichts storen und liess
deschalb im Aquarium alles beim Alten, zudem
hatte ich auch keinen Platz, um die Eltern in
ein anderes aquarium uberfuhren zu konnen.
