Wet and cool conditions wreaking havoc on Hamilton farms

June 15, 2019 - Farmers have been hit with a trifecta of troubles: commodity prices, trade agreements and terrible weather. Worsening conditions are taking a mental health toll. That matters in this city where more than 6,100 people make their living from the industry.

By the last week of May, the pressure is usually off for Jeff Barlow.

"Corn is about this high," he says, holding his palms a few inches apart. "Soybeans are planted. I have a beer in my hand."
