Quark and Lime Paint

Quark and Lime Paint

  • 9 ounces (250g) quark
  • 1 ounce (28g) strained lime putty - about two tablespoons
  • 2 ounces (56g) slaked lime tolerant pigment

Covers about 22 square feet - about 2 square meters.

Suitable for absorbent walls, if thinned it can be used as a colorwash. Can be used on bare wood if two coats are used to give an opaque finish.

Slake the pigment. Place the quark in a bowl and stir in the lime putty. Add the slaked pigment.

Apply with a large paintbrush. Brush strokes will be evident. Stir regularley during application; the paint will dry in about an hour and hardens fully overnight. Very durable, it can be wiped clean. If applying to wood let the first coat dry completly. When the second coat has hardened buff with a lint free cloth.
