Avian Influenza takes a toll on domestic poultry flocks in Canada

The number of domestic poultry that has died due to High Path Avian Influenza in Canada is approaching the 2 million mark.

Alberta is the hardest hit province, with 900,000 birds affected.

Real Ag Radio's Shaun Haney spoke with RFD-TV's own Janet Adkison about current conditions and what the country is doing to minimize the spread.

"Provincial animal health authorities have restricted the movement of birds for shows, auctions, and agricultural fairs. Saskatchewan’s Chief Veterinary Officer extended the province’s animal health control order prohibiting movement to and participation in these events until June 14."
