COVID-19 cases skyrocket in Monroe County

COVID-19 rates in Monroe County escalated drastically in the week ending Saturday, following steady drops over the course of the past month of the pandemic in the Poconos.

Information from the Department of Health’s COVID-19 Dashboard showed a case count of 331 for the week running from Oct. 31 to Nov. 6, a 38.5% increase over the previous week’s 239 cases.

This jump in cases manages to undo the incredible case drop reported last week, bringing Monroe County nearly to the point it was at for the week of Oct. 17 to Oct. 23.

The peak of the week came on Nov. 4 with 65 reported cases; the low point came on Saturday, with only 30 reported cases. Lower reported cases are not unusual over weekends due to decreased testing.
